Disclosure
Some pages carry affiliate links, and we earn a commission if you buy through them at no extra cost to you. Every page that does says so at the top, before you read the review. Pages with no commercial relationship say that instead. A commission never changes a verdict.
How the disclosure works
Most sites run one blanket "we may earn a commission" line on every page, including pages where they earn nothing. That is technically safe and practically useless — if the disclaimer is always there, it tells you nothing about the page you are actually reading.
We do it differently. Every review declares its actual relationship with the manufacturer, and the disclosure text is generated from that. You will see one of these:
- Affiliate link. We earn a commission if you buy through a link on the page. Costs you nothing extra.
- Free product. The manufacturer sent us the product for review. We were not paid, and they had no approval over what we wrote.
- Sponsored. The manufacturer paid for the review. They did not have approval over our verdict.
- No relationship. No affiliate link, no payment, no free product. We bought or independently assessed what we cover.
As of today most of our reviews carry the last one, because we have not signed affiliate programs yet. When that changes, the disclosures change with it — automatically, page by page.
What a commission does not buy
It does not change a verdict. If we sign a deal with a manufacturer whose product we have criticised, the criticism stays exactly where it is. If that ends the relationship, so be it.
It does not buy a rating. We do not publish a rating for a product we have not independently tested — no launch monitor data, no rating. Plenty of sites will hand out five stars based on a spec sheet and a commission rate. We would rather tell you we have not measured it.
It does not turn a claim into a fact. When a manufacturer says their driver adds fifteen yards, we report that as their claim, attributed to them, unless we have measured it ourselves.
Why we bother
Self-interest, mostly. This site's entire value is being right about equipment rules when most golf content is not. That is worth nothing if the reviews are for sale, and the moment you suspect they are, the rules pages stop being trustworthy too.
